Names: Maple (pink nose) and Mischief (black nose). Maple is also known as Mapie, Mapes, and Beautiful. Mischief is also known as Missy, Stinky, and Stop That!
Breed: Domestic short hair. Maple is a classic tuxedo; Mischief is more of a cow cat with little blotches.
Likes: Law and Order: SVU; Getting into places they shouldn’t; their nightly bedtime treat routine; staking out the highest perch in the room; their amazing Sit-A-Pet caretaker Donna, who provides ample Churus; their other amazing caretaker Claire, whose photography will one day put the girls on the front of Fancy Feline Magazine.
Dislikes: Closed doors; small children trying to tempt them out from under the bed by yelling “KITTY!”
About Mischief and Maple: Mischief and Maple are rescued littermates from Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and came to their home in Arlington, VA, from South Carolina in late 2022. Their human was attracted to Mischief’s silly little face staring at her at a PetSmart adoption day, while Maple hid in the background.
These ladies are confident (tails are always held high!), passionate (about treats), and have fiercely independent energy (as long as they can be in the same room as you at all times). Their zoomies are unmatched.
Although raised in the same household, these gals could not be more different. Maple is quiet and sweet – the real brains of the operation. She is a protector – you will never go to the bathroom alone. Mischief, on the other hand, is wild, outgoing, and … well, trouble. She’s the brawn, the instigator. The girls act as a team to wake up their human at unreasonable hours, with Mischief chewing on hair and Maple staring intently into your soul.
Both girls are known for rolling over and showing their bellies, demonstrating how much they love people. Mischief is a dog in a cat’s body – she loves to have her belly rubbed, right on her “Pet Me Here” spot, and you’re rewarded with a biiiiiig stretch! With Maple, on the other hand … don’t touch! It’s a trap!
The girls bring endless joy with their ridiculous antics, silly poses, and affectionate spirits. Their human wouldn’t trade them for anything (though a “snooze button” on these furry alarm clocks would occasionally be welcomed).
