About Sydney: I was a pampered family pet for the first seven years of my life, but then my family developed allergies and sent me to an animal shelter. Luckily, I was rescued and found my way to Puden’s Place, a rescue organization in Silver Spring, Maryland, where I patiently awaited a forever home. For reasons I cannot begin to understand, no one wanted to adopt a rather zaftig, “mature” cat, and it took about a year for me to be adopted. Finally, a real nice lady looking for a charming companion came by and adopted me. Now I live like the queen that I am, with a mother who never gets tired of showing me that she thinks I’m wonderful. How could she think otherwise? I always greet her when she comes home after a long day at work, and I snuggle next to her on the couch and purr and purr and purr. I have to say, Mom might have made a bit of a misstep when she brought home a kitten for me to play with, allegedly because I need to do more exercise, but I’m growing rather fond of the little guy. Goodness knows he needs me to show him how to bathe properly. Anyhow, life is pretty darned good, and Mom always tells me that adopting me was one of the best things she ever did. I hope that other people out there can find it in their hearts to adopt a cat who maybe isn’t as young as some of the other homeless kitties out there, but who has lots of love to give and would make a great companion.
