Voted “BEST” by Washingtonian Magazine

Voted Sit-A-Pet’s founder, Debra Hollander, has a love for animals that led her to an innovative concept: to care for pets in their own home while their owners are traveling. Because at the time there were no similar services in existence, she was unsure whether pet owners would warm to her concept. Not surprisingly, they loved it! Sit-A-Pet’s first client — in 1980 — lived on Capitol Hill. Word spread rapidly and, along with grass roots advertising, the business grew to the enterprise it is today, serving parts of Washington, Virginia, and Maryland.

The careful selection of reliable and responsible pet sitters was and continues to be a key ingredient to the success of the business and the satisfaction of Sit-A-Pet’s clients. Since 1980, the staff has grown to more than 70 pet sitters who have cared for pets in more than 13,000 homes in the Washington Metropolitan area. Since 1980 Sit-A-Pet has been written up in numerous national publications (see “In The News“).

Sit-A-Pet is proud to be part of a nationwide pet sitting industry whose growth is in response to a heightened awareness of the need for pets to be happy and content. Sit-A-Pet is a member of Pet Sitters International, the National Association of Professional Petsitters and the National Capital Area Professional Pet Sitters Network.

Sit-A-Pet is bonded, licensed and insured.
